Since the beginning of July, Nosara has had a new seafood and steak restaurant in the Playa Garza area. Bahia Garza is located on the beach, where Don Quijote restaurant used to be. It is owned by Karol Cabezas, known in Garza for her seafood specialties.

The restaurant’s roof and bathrooms have been repaired and the paint has been touched up, but they have kept the small ranchos at the ocean’s edge so diners can eat and relax with their feet in the sand.

The prices for appetizers range from ₡2,500 to ₡4,000 ($4.60 to $7.45). Starters include ceviche made with shrimp or fish, a tuna carpaccio or shrimp cocktail with tartar sauce.

The textures and colors of some of the main dishes take a patron’s gastronomic experience to the next level. For example, the beef tenderloin salad (₡5,000 or $9.30) includes cherry tomatoes, strawberries, apple, avocado and almonds.

Those who love seafood should try the plate of mussels in garlic sauce (₡6,000 or $11.15), accompanied by potatoes with salt, butter and rosemary as well as salad.

There are also cuts of beef including T-bone, “New York” steak and rib eye between ₡7,500 and ₡8,500 ($13.95 to $15.80), as well as fruit smoothies from ₡1,300 to ₡1,600 ($2.40 to $3.00) and local beer for ₡1,200 ($2.25).

The space can also be rented for weddings or other events. To guarantee better service, it is recommended that large groups call in advance.

Low season schedule: 11 a.m.-8 p.m., closed Tuesdays.
