As the Guanacaste wind was filling the eyes of the attendants with dust on the morning of Holy Friday, tens of members of Nosara Catholic Church started walking the streets of the town slowly in celebration of resurrection of Christ.

Making frequent stops to reenact the Passion of Christ along the way, participants walked from Los Arenales to the Catholic Church in Nosara downtown. The final stop of the parade was at the courtyard of the church, where they displayed the crucification of Christ, which took over two hours.

Toward the end of service, Carlos Montiel, who was acting as the Jesus character, had to stop his performance earlier than expected due to health issues he started having. Under the heat of late morning being hung of a cross caused him lose his mobility. With the help of other performers, he was brought down and taken  by the Red Cross ambulance for emergency care.

Nosarans ended the Easter celebrations with a big service Saturday night at the church as a community. The services was highlighted with a bonfire by the Nosara River where everyone lit their candles, sang hymns and said their prayers as they walked back to church.
