Nosara returned to the news with its selection, made by the American television network CNN and the magazine National Geographic, as a world-class tourist destination to visit in 2014.

On December 14, CNN published the article “11 places to go in 2014,” where they included Nosara as one of the recommended places to visit during international travelers’ next vacation.

According to the publication, one of the reasons that Nosara will have more visitors is the winning of Ecological Blue Flags for Garza, Guiones, Pelada and Nosara beaches. That guarantees a high-quality, environmentally-friendly experience.

In addition, the story quoted Alvin Rosenbaum, president of the Nosara Civic Association and a tourism expert, who mentioned pristine beaches as being responsible for the introduction of a variety of new family activities, from programs for small children to educational and volunteer programs for older kids. Also, Rosenbaum said that Nosara is one of the most environmentally-conscious communities in Latin America.

For their part, the magazine National Geographic selected Nosara as one of the best places to visit in 2014 for the second year in a row.

Nosara appears on a list of 15 destinations worldwide as one that is renowned for surfers, American expats, and lovers of Paddle Surfing who are looking for uncrowded beaches with their own personalities.

The magazine recommends visiting during the dry season, from December to April.

National Geographic also mentions the Ostional Wildlife Refuge as one of the world’s principal turtle nesting destinations and a place where turtles can be seen all year.
