For the second year in a row, the Cycling Tour of Costa Rica (Vuelta Ciclistica a Costa Rica) will have one of its stages on Nicoyan soil in 2016.
According to Aider Acuña, president of the Nicoya Cycling Commission, they already have the verbal agreement with representatives of the Costa Rican Cycling Federation (FECOCI- Federacion Costarricense de Ciclismo) to bring the country’s top cycling event to the canton for the second year in a row.
“Like last year, a great proposal was made. Nicoya was well positioned, so the Federation takes it into account. This year, I was called by the Federation and they communicated to me that Nicoya was chosen,” Acuña explained.
According to estimates from the Nicoya Cycling Commission, more than 2000 people visited the canton in 2015 with the arrival of this sporting event, which meant a profit of about ¢60,000,000 ($114,000) for Nicoyan businesses.
