Plans are in the works to create an integral district station in Nosara, which would include space for 50officers, including the Public Force, the Tourist Police, the volunteer firefighters, Red Cross and a daycare center for children, according to Marcos Avila, syndic for the district.

A property of 5,200 square meters located next to the EBAIS clinic in downtown Nosara has been acquired for the project at a total cost of $100,000. The Nosara Civic Association donated $80,000 toward the purchase, and the Nosara Integral Development Association is making payments on the remaining amount.

To date, they have paid $10,000 with funds from last year’s fiestas, and hope to pay the remaining amount and the property transfer fees with profits from this year’s fiestas, Avila reported.

Omar Chavarria, chief of the Public Force for the canton of Nicoya, said the Public Force is supportive of the project, which he described as a “very beautiful plan.”
