Five facts that show how Guanacaste preserves its customs

Cooking over a wood fire, going to the bathroom in a “hole in the ground” and drinking water from a local well are some of the stories told by our abuelos.

 

But are they really that outdated? Either because of necessity or choice, thousands of residents still practice these customs. Following are five facts gleaned from the National Statistics and Census Institute’s 2015 National Household Survey.
