People who want to enroll at the University of Costa Rica (UCR) and the National University (UNA) will have the opportunity to take a mock admission test for both universities.

They will do so in the Qiü National Mock Test (Simulacro Nacional Qiü, in Spanish), which will allow students to practice with a test that replicates the structure, content, and difficulty level of the official UCR and UNA admission exams.

The test is free and will be available from 6 a.m. and throughout the day on Monday, August 25. Space is limited, so those interested in taking the test must register before midnight on August 23 at simulacro.ahead.cr. Once the registration form is completed, they will receive an email with instructions on how to access the mock exam.

Qiü spokesperson María Pérez said that to date, approximately 4,500 students have registered.

Advantages of taking the test

Participating in the Qiü National Mock Exam offers students the opportunity to measure their current level of preparation in an environment similar to that of the actual test. It also allows them to accurately identify areas that need reinforcement and familiarize themselves with the type of questions, the format, and the time they will have to complete the admission exam.

“The added value of the platform’s mock exam is that students receive their results by email, which not only indicate the correct and incorrect answers, but also the areas that went well and those that need improvement,” said Pérez.

Those taking the tests will have two hours to answer the 45 multiple-choice questions that make up the exam. The exams to enter the UCR and the UNA will be held between September 27 and October 19, 2025.

The initiative is promoted by the Costa Rican educational technology company Ahead.cr in partnership with the Monge Foundation.

Pérez explained that this year marks the launch of the platform and that in the coming years, the mock exam will have an economic value. “We will offer packages for interested students or schools,” he said.
