La Voz de Guanacaste is Now Part of Civil Blockchain

Esta publicación también está disponible en: Español

At La Voz de Guanacaste, we continue to grow and seek to make our relationship with you, our readers and donors, as clear, transparent and direct as possible. That’s why, when the Civil journalism network invited us to be part of their group, we didn’t think twice about saying yes. As of November, we are officially registered with Civil as the only Costa Rican media outlet representing Guanacastecans.

The international non-profit CIVIL seeks to support independent media outlets around the world and boost trust among those who write news and those who receive news through their blockchain. By accepting us as a member, it allows us to have their international seal of guarantee, indicating that La Voz de Guanacaste is transparent in the way it creates editorial and sales content.

It also helps us launch campaigns to receive donations in cryptocurrency or through Stripe, like we already do in CIVIL Boots in our ‘No to Violence Against Women campaign’ this November.

CIVIL also includes our brand and work in their informative bulletins, social media pages, and international conferences.

How did La Voz change to become part of CIVIL? We improved our user policies and added policies on the use of cookies (you can see them here). Now we can receive payments in cryptocurrency through Stripe. We also have the luxury of having support from CIVIL’s community of journalists and transparency experts, who are constantly verifying that there are no conflicts of interest in how we finance ourselves and making sure we respect the ethics of good journalism. We are happy to be part of journalism’s future.
