Nosara Library Offers Craft Classes to Make Gifts for Mothers Day

The afternoon of July 15, the David Kitson Library hosted a dramatic presentation in which the audience of 25 fourth graders from Serapio Lopez School actually took part.  The participants in the course offered by Simona, a well-known storyteller and educator, had prepared three scenes: one concerning recycling, another on family communication and the third on the abuse of technology.  Each theme had three scenes in which the drama was developed. The children in the audience were involved in a very vocal discussion of each scene, giving recommendations of how to improve it.  This technique was a great way to get children actively involved in the topics presented.  Librarians Consuelo Juarez and Marjorie Alvarez had participated in the course over five weeks and joined in as actresses along with the rest of the participants.

The library had a brief presentation on the 15th from the Nosara Recycle Center. Alvaro Camacho, administrator of the center, and two of his assistants, Maritza Juarez and Ana Lopez, spoke about the reuse of recyclable materials in a variety of crafts.

The next events in the library will be before Mother’s Day, August 15, when we will have a series of craft classes for young and old in which participants will make simple gifts for mother.

Nutritionist Priscilla Rosales, from the Ministry of Health in Nicoya, will be making her third visit of the year to talk to the Seniors Club.  She has come on two previous occasions and weighed and measured members of the group to check on their progress.

Casiana Vanole has been giving beginner computer classes for the last two months.  She is ready to start a new group.  Interested persons should contact the library at 2682-0211.
