The children of Samara will soon have a new place where they can go to run, play and spend their pent-up energy. Parents of the students of Samara Pacific School are in the process of building a playground next to the school that will be open to the public.

Although the public elementary school in Samara has a playground, it is only available to the school’s students during school hours, noted Cassie Hilton, one of the mothers working on building the playground. “Aside from the beach there’s no space for kids,” she related.

With this in mind, the group of parents decided to raise funds to build a playground. Hilton created a video that was posted on indiegogo.com, a fundraising website, and they raised a little more than $1500 from extended family, friends and strangers.

With these funds, they purchased a climbing dome from the United States and are welding together a structure that will include a slide, monkey bars and swings. In addition the playground will have a garden area. The parents rented and cleaned up an empty lot right next to Samara Pacific School, where they are setting up the play structures. It is located just off the main road from downtown Samara to Cangrejal about 100 meters before the intersection to Cangrejal.
