In Nicoya, check out the new restaurant Spazio, which offers novel signature cuisine, unique and nontraditional combinations created by the chef. The owner and chef Fernando Obando Juarez, who studied cooking at the National Learning Institute (INA), spent about six months developing the unique menu of international flavors that most tantalized his taste buds.

For example, there is ceviche al estilo Lima (from Peru) for 3400 colones (about $6.80), the Spazio sushi roll with apple, cream cheese, salmon and passion fruit reduction for 5200 colones (about $10.40), and for dessert, gelato with apple and basil for 2400 colones (about $4.80).

Spazio hosts a theme night midmonth. In July, the theme will be Spanish food. Spazio also offers a VIP black card to clients who come more than six times, entitling them to regular discounts. The elegant, modern décor includes a tree dripping with crystal prisms as a centerpiece. Spazio is located next to the EBAIS clinic and is open from noon to 10 p.m. daily.
