Last year Coconut Harry’s surf shop opened a juice bar; this year they are taking their menu a step further and opening a taco bar.
The business is located across from Hotel Café de Paris on the main street of Guiones, where you can sit and watch people passing along the street.
The taco bar is Rachelle Sexton and Steve Reyer’s new project. Sexton’s tacos have become famous in Guiones thanks to “Taco Tuesdays” at Harbor Reef. “I love Mexican and spicy food, I love tacos and this is the perfect spot,” Sexton commented.
The taco plate comes with three in a basket for 4000 colones ($8). The menu includes four specialty tacos: fish, tofu with black beans and corn, chicken with lime and cilantro and a yogurt-based sauce, and the best-selling tropical taco with mango pineapple salsa. They also sell “tostadas,” which are similar to a chalupa, a toasted tortilla with different toppings.
An order of tacos is a complete meal but if you just want to satisfy a craving, you can choose any of the individual tacos, such as chicken, pork, beef, fish or tofu with lettuce, cheddar cheese and pico de gallo for 1500 colones ($3). According to Sexton, the concept of this taco bar is to offer customers a quick meal without having to wait long for their order but with fresh ingredients and vegetables all prepared the same day.
