All indications are that this year’s Taste of Nosara will be something to talk about. With 28 currently confirmed food vendors including beer, wine and coffee tasting along with the luscious food choice, this is an event to put on your calendar in big red letters. Some vendors will feature demonstrations of how to use certain ingredients and foods with meals.

Taste of Nosara now has a website where you can see the registered food vendors, download the form to sign up as a vendor, sponsor or volunteer and also learn about the mission of the event.  Just click on www.sabordenosara.com to get all the information you need.

“We’ll be showcasing our local chefs and restaurants, giving them a chance to show off to tourists and locals.  They can bring menus and other marketing tools.  They can blog on our website,  and more.  Chefs also can adjust the cost of their donation because registration is free and they are in control of what items they choose to bring,” said Ann Auchincloss, organizer of the event.

Auchincloss said that at this time they are looking for sponsors. Donations are $25, $50 or $100 and every business that donates money will be marketed in advertisements, posters and t-shirts. The event also needs volunteers who can help them with the general organization on the day of the event.

“Taste of Nosara” was created in 2013 by a group of people who were looking for a way to help raise money for the volunteer firefighters and at the same time promote local businesses. This year the goal is to cover the $5000 expenses to ship a fire truck from North Carolina and insured it.

Taste of Nosara 2014 will be in the Harbor Reef restaurant on Sunday, July 13, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Patrons will be able to buy packages of tickets from $6 and up. The packets will pay for six to ten tastings, depending on the choices ticket holders make.

For Auchincloss, this is a win-win activity for everybody. “Food is always a huge tourist draw and my guests rave about the quality of food and restaurants here in Nosara.  They deserve a showcase and a chance to show off.   If it helps us build a fire department….even better,” she said.
