After a one year hiatus, the popular fundraiser Taste of Nosara will return with gusto on Sunday, July 16th from 12:00 to 3:00 pm.  All proceeds from the event, which highlights the many quality restaurants and food vendors in the area, go to Nosara’s volunteer firefighters and its security association.

Over 30 restaurants and food vendors already have committed to offer samples from their menus and more are agreeing to participate daily, said organizing committee leader Agnes Pinheiro. Dozens of other area businesses have contributed raffle prizes and cash sponsorship.  “We are expecting at least 400 locals and tourists to attend,” said Pinheiro.

Taste of Nosara organizers have a goal of raising up to $7,000 to support the Nosara Fire and Safety Association’s ongoing expenses and plans to develop a lifeguard program for Guiones Beach, said Ryan Kerr-Bombard, Chief of Nosara’s Volunteer Firefighters.  2015’s event, the last year it was held, raised $5,600 for security programs and helped pay for a firetruck.

In order to reach this goal, Taste of Nosara will sell packets of 10, 20 or 40 tasting tickets, with a coupon for a free lemonade with every 10 tickets.  Prices will range from $20 to $60.  The event will include a cash bar for beer and other drinks. Raffle tickets will be available for over 30 prizes, including a brand new Patterson surf board, dinners and overnight stays at local hotels.

Taste of Nosara will be held in a new, larger venue in the parking lot behind the gas station and near the hardware store.
