Gloriana Fernandez, Gustavo Rodriguez, Alejandra Trejos and Karla Aguilar are four youths from San Jose who decided to see and film “incredible places in Costa Rica.” Among them, of course, is our beautiful Guanacaste.

The project-concept was launched in May 2015 and is called “What a Good Place” (Que Buen Lugar). It was born from the necessity to find places that are not too touristy and full of adventure.

At www.quebuenlugar.com you can see short videos and a chronicle of all the places the four have visited, including marvels such as Rincon de la Vieja, Santa Rosa, La Cruz, San Juanillo, Witch’s Rock and Playas del Coco.

Visitors will also find the address of each place for the application Waze and relevant information for travelers, such as the entrance fee, vehicle type needed and packing list.

In Guanacaste they recommend visiting Cerro Pelado in Cañas, an activity that’s free and offers views of the entire peninsula, with a cool climate at the summit. “Everyone knows Guanacaste for its beaches but you pass through Cañas while traveling and no one has taken advantage of this place,” says Karla Aguilar.

For now, the trips are paid for by the youths, although some companies provide sponsorship with products and lodging. “We want people to go out and travel and see that it isn’t necessary to leave the country to have fun. Sometimes people save a big amount to travel out of the country and in reality there is still a lot to do here,” said Aguilar.
