On October 27, the “Amo Vivir” (I Love Life) race will take place at 4 p.m. in downtown Nicoya. This activity consists of a walk and a recreational horseback ride to commemorate International Breast Cancer Day. The event is being organized by the Cima Hospital of Guanacaste and the Municipality of Nicoya.

The cost to participate in the walk is 2000 colones ($4) and the horseback ride is 3500 colones ($7). Funds from the activity will be used by the Cima Hospital of Guanacaste to cover the costs of mammograms for people of limited means.

The 4.3-kilometer (2.2-mile) route starts in the Nicoya park, passes through the neighborhoods of El Carmen, Los Angeles, San Martin and Calanga, and ends in the colonial square.

In addition to the walk, other family activities are planned for the day, such as aerobic exercises with a warm-up and stretching before and after, and a ride on stick horses for children.

Registration is open to all ages, and anyone who wants to participate running or biking is also welcome to do so. You can pay your registration fee at the Municipality of Nicoya and at seven different authorized stores: Licorera Morera liquor store, La Alianza gas station, La Castellana bakery, Llanero veterinarian and Libreria Ayales bookstore.

Participants will receive a t-shirt and hydration at four different points, one every kilometer.
