For those who don’t have anything planned to celebrate Mother’s Day, the districts of Nicoya, Nosara and Samara have concerts and dinners to make this weekend a special one for the most important person in the home.

To honor mothers, Costa Rican singer Rogelio Cisneros will perform in the gymnasium of the multisport facility in Nicoya on Saturday, August 16 at 7 p.m.

Songs such as “¿Qué vas hacer esta noche?” (What Are You Going to Do Tonight?) and “No Deseo Ni Pensar” (I Don’t Even Want to Think), and “Ella y La Aurora” (Her and the Dawn) will be played by Cisneros, who became famous in the 1980s as a member of the group Gaviota.

Tickets for the concert cost ₡5,000 ($9.25) for general admission and ₡8,000 ($14.75) for preferential seating, and can be purchased at the veterinary store El Llanero, Optica Sanchun and at Exclusividades Eida.

Those visiting Nosara this weekend will also have options to celebrate. The Fish Bar concert series will hold their last event of the season on Friday, August 15 at the restaurant Pacifico Azul.

The recital will be led by Matixando, a group that plays Latin fusion that will surely get everyone dancing.

The event starts at 7:30 p.m. and costs $5. The first 20 mothers to arrive will get a free shot. For reservations, call 2682-5456.

The district of Samara will also participate in the festivities, as the Hotel Leyenda is planning a party for Saturday, August 16 at the facility’s pool.

The activity will start at 8 p.m. and will be livened up with DJs and the sensual dancers of Factor X.

The celebration is only for those 18 years-old and over, and will cost ₡3,000 ($5.50). Tickets can be bought in advance at Samara Info-Center.
