Whales Swimming off of Playa Sámara

Playa Sámara had a visit from six humpback whales during the morning of Wednesday, September 18th. According to Carolina Álvarez Gara, secretary of the Sámara Chamber of Tourism, “It is not usual (seeing whales); it’s a surprise for everyone. Sometimes you see one but you have to go way out.”
 
That morning, Stefania Piussi went kayaking with her friends Pablo Sanchez (in the second kayak), her son Slatan Sánchez, and Matteo Caretti on a stand up paddlebord. Caretti said that the whale’s tail that is seen in the video belongs to the mother of a baby whale that was also swimming in the waters of Playa Sámara.
