During a massive operation carried out by 20 officers on Sunday, May 10th, they managed to arrest a young man who was wanted for robbing houses in the coastal area of Nicoya.

The man with the last names Aguirre Castillo, who is less than 21 years old, was wanted by the Judicial Investigation Organization (OIJ- Organismo de Investigacion Judicial) of Nicoya for having more than two complaints filed against him for theft and for being suspected of stealing motorcycles from the Transit Police office located in the San Martin neighborhood, which is where Aguirre is from.

Aguirre was arrested on the road to Cangrejal of Samara after an operation in conjunction with the Tourist Police of Guiones, the Public Force of Samara, MINAE, Transit Police and a strong presence of the Operational Support Group from Liberia.

The car that the suspect was driving had a license plate that did not match the vehicle registration, so a background check was done. That’s when it was discovered that there was an arrest warrant for the man.

“As a result of so much theft in the area, we are doing several preventive operations,” said Carlos Eduardo Alvarado Navarro, head of the Tourist Police.

Currently, Aguirre Castillo is being held by the Nicoya District Attorney’s office.

At the end of April this year, the OIJ searched Aguirre Castillo’s house, but at that time, he managed to flee.
