This year, the Nosara fiesta will give people something to talk about. The party menu includes a parade of performers, clowns and bands. In addition, the equestrian parade is expected to bring more than 200 riders from all over the country and, as in any fiesta, the music won’t be missing. The organizers have planned two concerts per day: one in the afternoon (free) and another at night, which will have an admission price.

For the night of the pageant, the lovely candidates for the crown will be presented by Colombian singer Gregory Cabrera. If you’re not out of breath and still want to keep partying, prepare your eyes, because Sunday, the 30th you’ll be delighted by the parade of models in intimate apparel; afterward don’t say we didn’t warn you.

Clear your schedule and gear up, because the fiesta starts softly on Thursday, January 27 with fireworks, the group of bulls from finca Dos Lorenas of Esperanza and later dancing with Emociones mobile disco.

On Friday, the 28th, the rhythm picks up. At 3 p.m. you have an appointment with the parade of clowns, composed of a group of Nosareños selected and prepared by the Nosara Asociación de Desarrollo (Development Association), the organizing committee for the fiesta. Performers from Heredia, known to be among the best in the country, will also parade. The first concert to warm up the main stage is Colombian singer Gregory Cabrera, who will perform cumbia and rancheras.

The bulls begin at 6 p.m. and the sons of the famous bull Malacrianza, from Finca Nueva Esperanza, will be presented there. The same night, the candidates for pageant queen will give their final presentation and the new 2011 Nosara queen of the festivities will be chosen. Gregory Cabrera will return to seduce the ladies with his love songs after the pageant selection. Admission for this event is 3,000 colones.

On Saturday, the 29th, will be the grand equestrian parade. For this event, a special committee was formed to organize the more than 200 riders who will come from all over the country. The event is midday at the Materiales de Construcción Nosara hardware store, across from Super Nosara.

At 3 p. m., as the equestrian parade ends in the bullring, Taboga Band, a group that plays merengue, cumbia and swing, will give a free concert on the main stage. At the conclusion of the bull riding, Taboga Band will play a second time at a dance in the hall of the fiestas. Admission is 4000 colones.

Sunday, the 30th at 3 p.m. there will be a parade of performers, in which a group from Liberia with more than 50 dancers will participate. The parade departs from in front of Bar Bambú.

During the rest of the afternoon, everyone who likes to sing will have the opportunity to practice karaoke in the ranchero at the main stage.

The rancheros festival starts at 4 in the afternoon and goes until 6 p.m. The public will choose the winners. After the bull riding that night there will be a parade of models in intimate apparel: careful guys! This show is not suitable for men who suffer from high blood pressure.

And for the grand finale, Monday, January 31, the bulls and the dance will be free so the entire town can enjoy the wholesome fun.

The festival epicenter is located 200 meters south of the Nosara airstrip. In addition to the dances, bulls and other entertainment, there will be typical food and games for children.

Children’s Effort Became a Dance

The boys run all around with red scarves in their hands. The girls line up for makeup while their mothers make last-minute adjustments to their typical dresses. Excitement and anxiety are the air. It’s not a presentation of the national ballet, but it seems as if it were for the 35 children of Nosara’s Serapio López Fajardo School. More >
