"Rumors" in Nosara

by Carolyn Fainmel

Living in a small town, Nosareños know how easily rumors can get started. Misunderstandings, secrets and lies are all part of what makes the intrigue of a small town exciting. Things are no different in the world of Neil Simon's New York where a group of socialites gather to celebrate the 10th wedding anniversary of two of their closest friends. The Nosara Players will be performing the farce, Rumors, on Feb 19th at the Selva Mar clubhouse for one night only to raise funds for the Biblioteca David Kitson.

Each year the Nosara Players have advanced their theatrical skills to give Nosara its only live theatrical experience. No longer reading from scripts, the cast will be performing the fast paced, witty dialogue from memory. Four new cast members have joined the group proving, in our own small way, that Nosara's got talent. As well, amateur theatre veteran and mother of a real live Broadway star, Liz Maxwell, is co-directing along with Kim Shook, our very own theatre major, to push the limits of our 10 member cast.

So, before you repeat that thing that you heard from your tennis partner about your neighbor's wife, be aware that things may not be quite what they seem. There is one rumor you can circulate and that is that this year's theatrical production will be a lot of fun while benefiting the David Kitson Library - the only lending library within 40km.

Tickets are available from Beverly Kitson at 2682-0091 for $75 including dinner and wine. The event starts at 5:00pm.

The Secret is in Collaboration
Letter to the Editor

I was delighted to read your report, "The Future of Tourism" to promote sustainable and responsible tourism in the lower Guanacaste beach communities. As a destination development specialist for the World Bank and other international clients, I believe there is now an opportunity to capitalize on the region's distinctive attributes, particularly in markets that have not yet discovered this beautiful corner of the world.
