Two Performances Planned for Dinner Theatre Library Benefit

By Arianna McKinney

Community theater fans will be delighted to know that this year there will be not one, but two performances of the annual dinner theater, which is the main event held to raise funds for the David Kitson Library in Nosara.

“We think the crowd will have so much fun, we are doing two performances so they can see it twice!” said Carolyn Prowse-Fainmel, the play’s director and also one of the players. “The cast is getting excited already.”

This year’s play is the witty British farce “Not Now, Darling”written by Ray Cooney and John Chapman. It is set in a fur salon, where one of the two business partners, Arnold Crouch, tries to keep things afloat while the other, Gilbert Bodley, is off having an affair. Bodley decides to sell his mistress’ husband a fur coat for an extremely low price in order to win her affection, but the plan goes awry when the husband decides to give the coat to his own mistress.

“It involves the kind of deception, intrigue and comedy that only a group of married couples and their several paramours could mount,” commented Alice Olson, who coordinates fundraising for the library.

The play will be performed on Wednesday, February 27 and Thursday, February 28 at Del Mar Academy.  Cocktail hour begins at 5 p.m., dinner at 5:30 and the performance at 6:30 p.m.  Tickets are $75 each and can be reserved by calling the library (2682-0211), Alice Olson (2682-0106) or Anna Rita Wentworth (8729-5053).
