While Costa Rica’s long distance runners are busy preparing for Adventura Nosara’s jungle race, organizers are concerned there isn’t enough local participation.
Organizer, Marco Johanning said, “100% of the proceeds of Aventura Nosara will go to community projects like the recycling, security and firefighting associations; so we think more locals should participate in support of our beloved town.”
They are well on track to meet their registration goal of 150 participants in time for the event on May 19, said Johanning. So far though 90% of registrants are from outside the Nosara area though.
Spaces are limited in both the 12 km and 5 km races that will run through the jungle between Playa Guiones and Nosara Central. Those interested should register as soon as possible according to Johanning.
There are two ways to register, online at www.anosara.com and at Harmony Hotel’s Juice Bar, in Playa Guiones, right near the race’s start and finish line. Registration fee is $20 or 10 000 colones per entrant. Included in the registration fee is a jersey, a participation medal and discounts at some local businesses
There has also been a 50 000 colones prize added which will be awarded to the winner of the main race.
The event has been organized by Nosara Sostenible, Nosara Tourism Chamber and the Nosara Development Association with the sponsorship help of Experience Nosara.
Johanning said he is confident they will meet registration goals and he hopes this will be the first of many Nosara adventure races to come.
