Dance to Benefit Firemen

By Irina Guzmán

The Costa Rican groups Combate and Pimienta Negra, known for their cumbia, reggae, merengue and salsa rhythms, will perform in Nosara on Saturday, July 14th in the Santa Marta community hall.

The concert will begin at 5 p.m., opening with dance music and choreography by the musical group Combate. Admission has a cost of 8000 colones.

The money from the entrance fees will benefit the volunteer firemen of Nosara to buy a vehicle, hydrants, water pumps and materials like radios, cords and other tools for work. In addition, 40% of the sales of typical foods will be donated to the firemen.

The musical event is being organized by the private security company Seguridad Pacifico in an effort to increase security in the community and in the beaches, and also to be on alert in case of a natural disaster, commented Jo Pinheiro, Nosara volunteer fireman.
