Tres Pies al Gato is the New Artist Collective in Nosara

Article by Oriana Fowler
for Costaspirit.com

Nosara is known for its beautiful beaches, world-class yoga & surf, and natural beauty. Its also boasts a thriving community of artists, including local photographer/painter/designer Ale Muñoz. Ale is also an entrepreneur and she's taking the initiative to organize Nosara's artists.

"We are a collective of artists from Nosara and from around the world – from Costa Rica, from United States, England, Mexico, Canada, all who live here in Nosara," says Ale. "This town is special because of that."

The new artist collective in Nosara is named Tres Pies al GatoAle chose the name because she liked it. It is meaningless, because part of her view is that art doesn't have to have a reason.

The logo for Tres Pies al Gato (cat with three legs) is based on the 1901 poster "Le Chat Noir" by the French poster artist Theophile Steile. Ale recreated the image by hand in Illustrator (not using the copy/paste tool). You can see the differences between the two cats; in the new logo Ale also brought in a sun and a surfboard, representing Nosara's beach lifestyle.

The vision for Nosara Artist Collective Tres Pies al Gato is to show the art from this small Guanacastecan beach town to the world. The group's goals are to start with exhibits in Nosara, receiving support from Nosara hotels and restaurants to help present and sell their arts, and then to participate in exhibitions in San Jose. The group is organizing in the month of August, with the goal of presenting the first exhibition in Nosara in November.
