Maintenance Starts Along Route 160 Between Nosara and Samara
CONAVI Initiated Bidding Process for Roadway

By Wilberth Villalobos Castrillo

Finally, after a long wait and now well into rainy season, the almost impassable route 160 is receiving attention as machinery from MOPT initiated maintenance works over the route.

VON was able to corroborate that from the gas station of Samara, a leveler was working on the route and they also started work where gutters will be installed along the trajectory.

According to Jose Luis Salas, director of CONAVI, the maintenance work will extend from Samara to Nosara, covering 30 kilometers (about 18.6 miles).

Salas made a call for cooperation to neighbors whose properties are near the route to move their fence lines approximately 80 centimeters (31.5 inches) “to give us the width of clearance that we need to widen the route,” he explained.

“Since it is a trajectory that is very deteriorated, we have to raise up the drains that we are going to place by at least one more meter in order to perform maintenance on the surface and gravel it,” said Salas.

In addition, Salas stated that CONAVI started the bidding process today (Friday, July 13th) for doing maintenance on the route, so businesses interested in participating can do so as of now.

Salas confirmed that the amount that CONAVI plans to invest in the route for the remainder of the year is 100 million colones ($200,000).
