This month’s edition of “Shop Smart” discusses one of Costa Rica’s most successful brands.
Their products are divided in to two groups:
Food - snacks, nougat candy, cookies, granola, oats, whole wheat, rice oil, nutritional supplements and soy products.
Personal Hygiene - shampoo, conditioner, sunscreen, soap, gel, face and body lotion.
Bioland works with and supports economic financing of producers with nature-friendly practices. They promote biological and organic agriculture and implement commercial procedures that are clean, ecological and respectful to human health.
All of their products use biodegradable, organic, chemical free ingredients, non-adhesive labels, ecological paper made from cane husks and printed with soy ink, made with pure spring water and without animal by-products. They don’t experiment on animals and they don’t contain artificial colorings.
And as if all of this wasn’t enough, they also have a contribution program to Ecological Organizations:
- Bioland Planting Program (proceeds go to urban planting and tree rescue in endangered areas)
- River Cleaning
- Environmental Education Sponsorship
- Ecological Cause Contributions
- Educational scholarships and formation of new enterprises in organic agriculture lands
- Bio-land can be found in all the area’s supermarkets
Plus: Pay attention to some of Bioland’s packaging, as there is now a special offer to exchange 10 empty packages for 1 full one. If so, it has to be the same product (ex. textured soy only)
In the Nicoya canton, the only nearby exchange center is Girasol Macrobiotic in Nicoya, 75 meters East of the Jimenez Institute.
