Jefrey Noguera, Nosara’s Attacking Midfielder, is “Tied” to la Liga JUST WAITING…

BY Hayleen Noguera

A few months ago we published the news that Jefrey Noguera B., player of the Nosara Soccer Team, was going to be playing for the Deportivo Saprissa, in the National Soccer’s First Division. However, the months passed and we kept watching him play for the Nosara “Bolis” team. Many people might ask: what happened with Jefrey during his time in Saprissa – and why is he still here? Here, the young player opens up about everything that happened and tells us what’s in store for him…

VON: How was your experience with the “Purple Team”?

J-N: It was a very good experience, I had to give my very best right from the first tryouts since we were 130 candidates; afterwards only 50 were left and, for the second tryout, there were only 30 contenders, by the third and last tryout 8 were chosen, myself included. I stayed for a few days in Tibás, training with the main team, but a small obstacle emerged and now all I can do is wait.

VON: Why did you return to Nosara? What were you told by Saprissa?

J-N: The reason is that, ever since I was 12 years old and until I was 18, I used to play for the Liga Deportiva Alajuelense. I had a 5-year contract with them and, although it has already expired, there was a “clause” that stated that if I played with another team they (la Liga) would charge for my training rights since I had received everything from them. Therefore, Saprissa’s Board of Directors is doing the necessary negotiations in order to reach a good agreement between both clubs, since they (Saprissa) like my way of playing. If all goes well, by January I will be returning to the “Purple Team”, either to play in the “Equipo del Corazón”, of the second division, or in the high performance (“Alto Rendimiento”) team, with the option of playing for the First Division team.

VON: With which of the Board members did you speak and how are you preparing to make the most out of this opportunity to play for a team as important as Saprissa?

J-N: I spoke with Víctor Badilla, Carlos Santana and Enrique Rivers; they gave me very good vibes and presented me with the option of joining the team. For the moment I am training and playing with Nosara; I might also have the possibility of doing a preseason with the Guanacasteca soccer team. I will definitely do my best, trying to do more physical training and trusting the tactical aspects in order to improve my game; for the moment I am waiting for Saprissa and, of course, that either la Liga lets go of me or that they reach an agreement that is good for me.
