Be Healthy and Happy during Samara’s Health Fair

By Sarah Cook

“Health and cheerfulness naturally beget each other,” said English writer Joseph Addison. You will likely concur with that statement if you spend an afternoon in Samara at this year’s health fair at the Natural Center Gym and Spa, located next to Samara school.

The Blue Zone Community Foundation (FCZA) is hosting this entertaining event to encourage and support community health. The fair will be held for two days this year, Friday, December 7th and Saturday, December 8th from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and activities will be abundant!

Like last year, participation in the fair is free. Services include therapeutic massage and acupuncture sessions, breathing techniques, health examinations and information on dentistry.

Don't miss the folkloric dance presentation during the health fair.

Interested in hearing about the biology of snakes? Insightful lectures will be held on this slimy topic, and children will have the opportunity to watch a lively puppet show also related to the topic of snakes. The fair will also include enlightening lectures on heart health, nutrition and Guanacaste’s climate change. Don’t miss out on Estrada’s folkloric dance group, a children’s ballet presentation, and a special nighttime event of documental movies and music, plus face painting for children.

Patsy Scott, founder of FCZA, is encouraging all surrounding communities to come join in the fun. The invitation has been extended to Estrada, Carrillo, El Torito, San Fernando, Santo Domingo, El Carmen, Punta Islita, Garza, Nosara, Los Altos Mora, Camaronal, Buena Vista, Santa Marta, and many more communities.

FCZA has many goals, including helping the community to protect the environment, promoting cultural identity and promoting project developments that can aid in helping the Blue Zone of Nicoya Peninsula to prosper. “I firmly believe that if we all take responsibility at the local level, we have a global impact,” affirms Scott.
