The smell of mold is the signature of our rainy season but there are nowadays ways not only to get rid of this smell but also kill the mold. A lot of our snow bird residents are coming back to Nosara. If they encounter the smell of mildew this machine could help.

How does it work?
The unit produces ozone which coupled with an active fan reproduces and spreads the clean, fresh scent of a thunderstorm throughout your home. Okay, I am parroting some of the marketing material...I had to because it isn’t that easy to describe. But basically this mold killer combines two elements to purify the air. The first is an ozone generator and the second produces negative ions.

In the case of mold infection in a house, the appropriate and effective response is to close all the doors and windows in the room where you have the mildew problem and leave the device on for 24 hours at full generation. This shock treatment will fill the space with Ozone and kill the mold so you need only brush it to get rid of it. After the device is turned off and the room is ventilated again, the ozone reverts to oxygen within one hour; then you can use the room again.

This machine can also be used to help people who are asthmatic or have allergies (to mold and insects).
In such cases the device is set in a place where the person suffering the allergies spends a good amount of time (perhaps the bedroom or the office.) The air freshener is set at a moderate setting allowing the device to improve air quality by reducing the amount of indoor pollutants. Natural ventilation filters or AC alone can’t do this.

This machine was specially conceived for the climatic conditions of Costa Rica and comes in two sizes, one for personal use in a normal size room and a larger unit for a larger space such as a condo apartment.
