The Garza Health Committee invites you to a dance on Sunday, June 23, at a dance at the bar El Barco del Amor, where they will be selling food, beer and soft drinks to raise funds to finish the renovation of the EBAIS clinic in Garza.

The activity starts at 7 p.m. and the entrance fee is 1,500 colones ($3).

The lack of suitable conditions for storing medicine and the overall poor state of the facilities were the main reasons for remodeling the Garza EBAIS, according to Olivier Hernandez Lopez, president of the Garza Health Committee.

Hernandez said that because of not having an adequate refrigerator to store medicine, doctors would no longer bring medicines to the Garza EBAIS, so patients have to take their prescriptions to Nosara and wait two to three days to pick up their medications.

However, the effort of neighbors, along with the Garza Development Association, the Garza Health Committee and the Municipality of Nicoya, has made it possible to complete 80% of the renovation and refurbishment of the EBAIS, said Hernandez, who affirmed that, “The idea is to better serve the people and we believe it will be ready to open the first of July.”

Achieving this important goal for the community requires a total of 5 million colones ($10,000), of which 3 million ($6000) in marterials was contributed by the Municipality of Nicoya and the other 2 million ($4000) the communities of Garza and Las Delicias have been providing, either with labor or through fundraising activities such as soccer games, dances in the community hall, raffles or sales.

Details that remain to complete the work include installing new electrical wiring, ceramic tiles and painting the walls. Some walls have been demolished to rebuild new ones.

In addition, they plan to create a waiting room and a new pharmacy and want to equip the office with air conditioning. For this reason, the community members remain positive and invite all who want to collaborate to enjoy this dance to benefit health.
