On Saturday April 6 and Sunday April 7 Nosara enjoyed the annual Ship of Fools Fishing tournament. A Catch-and-Release tournament held in Playa Garza, with the funds being donated to the the Nosara Recycling Center, this was a weekend of fishing for fun and a good cause.
The awards ceremony was held at Marlin Bill's Restaurant, with all ages coming together to celebrate. The Nosara Recycling Center gave a presentation on the importance and simplicity of separate out your recyclables. For those in the area, simply put all recyclables (cardboard, aluminium, paper, tetrapaks, etc) together in a single transparent plastic bag, separate from non-recyclables, and the recycling center will do the rest.
Organics can be composted or put back into the jungle where appropriate. If everyone follows these two simple steps for waste management (keep one transparent bag for recyclables separate from waste, and do not include organic materials in trash), with the efforts of the Nosara Recycling Center waste in the Nosara landfill will be reduced by as much as 80%.
