11-11-11. Is it just an interesting date on the calendar or an auspicious day signaling the dawning of a new age? I suppose that’s a matter of belief, but with ancient prophecies and the ending of the Mayan calendar on December 21, 2012, many people believe the earth and its people are headed for a major change.
Kundalini Yoga Teacher, Bhajan Kaur was told by her spiritual and yoga teacher, the famous Yogi Bhajan, that November 11, 2011 was to be the start of the Aquarian age, a time when mankind would come out of the darkness of separation into the realization that we are all part of one consciousness. |

It was from a desire to honor and celebrate this shift, that Bhajan organized an event that was held in Guiones at the Yoga House on that date. The event was called “Advancing into the Aquarian age” and was to be a gathering of people in spirit to do some yoga, some devotional singing, and share food.
“This evening will be an experience through yoga and sound to clear your existing limiting beliefs, and provide centering and grounding techniques that will prepare you for the challenges we face now and in the times ahead,” said Bhajan of the evening.
On that Friday evening, a nice crowd of people arrived at 5:00 pm we began the evening with Kundalini Yoga, a type of yoga that includes a dynamic blend of asanas (postures), pranayam (breath), mantra (word/sound), music and dyana (meditation), that teaches you the art of relaxation, self-healing and elevation. This was followed by an hour of Kirtana, a heartful and inspiring devotional singing practice that was led by local Kirtana leaders Chantalananda. The evening concluded with the healing chant, Ra Ma Da Sa as taught by Yogi Bhajan, a mantra for healing oneself, others and the world by anchoring the healing vibration on the planet.
There was no shortage of appetite or good feelings as the event concluded with a joyous sharing of food and good conversation. Those who attended would most likely agree that 11-11-11 was a special day here in Nosara.
