More than 30 folkloric dance, music and theater groups will participate in the 2021 Liberia Virtual Cultural Festival, organized by a group of artists and young people from Liberia, known as the white city.
The activities will take place from Thursday, February 25 to Sunday, March 7, with people of all ages in mind.
The festival performances will be broadcast from the Finca Las Delicias performance and event venue on the outskirts of Liberia, so you can enjoy it safely. You can follow the activities on the festival’s Facebook page and on the Anexión TV channel.
Among the artists that will participate are the duo NellyXArend, the Hermanos Gusano Circus, the Onca Theater and the Caña Brava seniors musical group. Cimarrona bands and marimba ensembles will also entertain people during the weekends.
The festival lineup also includes a BMX bike sports competition this Saturday, the 27th, in the afternoon.
For the most part, the activities will take place in the afternoons and evenings during the weekends, from Thursday to Sunday.
“Since there won’t be any fiestas this year, the festival is an important focus for people to feel that there is a fiesta without actually having it,” said Jorley Perez, activity organizer.
The virtual cultural festival is sponsored by companies located in Liberia, and all of the artists will perform for free. Jorley Perez added that the municipality of the canton declined to help finance the activity. “The municipality is watching the bulls from a distance,” acknowledged the organizer and cultural manager.
The celebrations will culminate on Sunday, March 7, with an outdoor recreation activity at Ponderosa Adventure Park. You can attend with your social bubble for free and, if you want to, you can bring food to donate to families affected by the pandemic.
