Guanacaste will hold its next cultural and sustainable gastronomic fair, “City of Flavors,” on Sat., Nov. 5 at Calle Real in Liberia.
Tourists and locals can discover 12 different offerings from Liberia’s five districts. Dishes made from corn, cassava, dairy products, rice, pitaya, pipián and others will serve as protagonists in the fair, which kicks off at 3 p.m.
A group of National University students from five different degree programs are pushing for the event to continue to be held periodically, traveling to all of Guanacaste’s cities. The goal is to preserve the region’s culture. Not only food will be served up, but also traditional dances and cimarrona will be on display, said Melany Juárez, a student in sustainable tourism business management.
The historic center of Liberia, known as Calle Real, is filled with historical homes and colonial architecture that earned it a designation as Costa Rican architectural patrimony.
