The Biggest Food Event of Nosara Returns in July

Sabor de Nosara, the popular restaurant showcase fundraiser for the  Bomberos of Nosara, returns July 26^th at Harbor Reef Surf Resort from 11 am to 2 pm.

Event Coordinator Ann Dwork said her goal is to bring in 40 restaurants, 400 people and raise $6,000 for the Bomberos. 

“I think Sabor de Nosara has the potential to grow to be a regular fundraiser for them,” she said. 

This year’s event already has 33 restaurants signed up and will expand from Harbor Reef’s restaurant and pool bar into their parking area she said. 

Dwork is looking for sponsors to purchase ice, cups, garbage and recycling bags, quality raffle prizes, beer and margarita ingredients or cash contributions for these items.   In addition, Dwork needs to borrow large trash cans, ice chests and recycling bins.  She is looking for a translator to make all publicity bilingual and she needs volunteers to work two hour shifts between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm the day of the event.

“It cost us $1,400 to put on the event last year and we raised $4,400.  So every dollar someone contributed raised almost four for the bomberos,” she said.  “That’s pretty good. So your donation or sponsorship can stretch far.”

The event will be in the same format as last year with booklets of tickets available for purchase at the door to use on food samples, beer, margaritas and raffle prizes. 

Last year’s successful event had 26 restaurants offer food samples to 350 participants raising $4,400 for the Nosara Security Association’s (NSA) fund for the Bomberos.  The contribution allowed the NSA and the Bomberos to bring a used fire truck in from the US, which was crucial as they fought large forest fires this past dry season.
