At the end of the year this December, the beach at Cangrejal in Samara will be stirred up, not by heavy waves but by Samara’s popular festivities, which come loaded with bullfights and revelry.

The fiestas, which are organized by the Samara Progressive Association (APROSA- Asociacion Progresista de Samara), will be held from December 27 to January 4 in the open field located in front of the beach in Cangrejal.

The celebration lineup includes bullfights every night at 7 p.m., as well as dances and karaoke under different tents, which are located inside the fairgrounds.

According to Miguel Alguel Gomez, a member of the organizing committee for the fiestas, funds collected from the festivities will go to the Cangrejal aqueduct.

“The Cangrejal aqueduct has existed for more than 30 years and we want to improve the whole network of pipes. A technical study has already been done and it is estimated that the repairs would cost ¢18 million (about $34,000),” Gomez specified.

This year, the celebrations will be dedicated to the goalie of the National Women’s Soccer team, Dinnia Diaz, who is also a native of Samara.
