Two 38-caliber guns were confiscated near Playa Pelada by the Nosara Public Force on March 2. The police received a call from a Costa Rican woman that her companion, a European, was threatening her and she was afraid because he possessed two guns, according to Gerardo Aguilar Aguilar, the police chief.
With the woman’s permission, the police entered the residence and confiscated the guns. Aguilar related that the man said he had lost the permits for the guns. Regardless, in cases where there is a report of domestic violence, Costa Rican law requires the police to confiscate firearms and prevents the person implicated from requesting permits for guns in the future.
The guns were sent to the Ministry of Public Safety in San Jose.
