Drowned Surfer Appears at Playa Frijolar in Santa Cruz

On the afternoon of February 12, a 50 year-old man was found dead.

The body was found at Playa Frijolar in Santa Cruz, Guanacaste, at 4:34 p.m.

The discovery was made thanks to a 911 call that alerted authorities to the man’s death.

According to the Santa Cruz Red Cross’s report, the deceased was identified as Rodrigo Valera Campos, resident of Heredia.

Arriving to find the body, Valera had shown no signs of life for over an hour.

The Santa Cruz Red Cross dispatched driver Osvaldo Piña and first responder Donny Noguera to the scene.

It was discovered that Valera Campos was on vacation in the area.

The Judicial Investigation Body (OIJ – Organismo de Investigacion Judicial) removed the body of the deceased at 4:56 p.m. that day.

The Santa Cruz, Guanacaste OIJ was left in charge of the case regarding the man’s death.
