Flowers or stripes? A loose or a tight-fitting dress? High waisted or hipster shorts? For those who love fashion and the latest trends, the Mercedes-Benz Guanacaste Fashion Week will present everything you need to know for this season.

The event will be held on December 28 starting at 7 p.m. at the Hotel Hacienda Pinilla, where, in addition to watching the fashion show, attendees can buy the pieces that are presented.

According to Leonora Jimenez, model and promoter of the project, the reason why they decided to hold the show in Guanacaste is the answer to the need for two projects: one is to present the winter collections in the case of San Jose and to exhibit summer attire for Guanacaste.

Although Guanacaste has never excelled in the development of the fashion industry in the country, Jimenez believes that the province is now ready for events of this magnitude.

“Guanacaste is prepared. It’s just that there’s never been a proposal for a summer fashion show exclusively, so this formal showcase for summer fashion didn’t exist. So I believe that Guanacaste hasn’t had this opportunity, but it is the ideal place to present this kind of collection and, in addition, it’s a way to be enriching and helping the area to grow at the level of fashion,” the model explained.

On the Catwalk

For the show to meet the high standards similar to those of other Fashion Weeks in the world, Jimenez held casting during which she chose the 30 women and 11 men who will parade down the catwalk.

“We look for the best bodies, but we want them to be healthy, sculpted, fit bodies. We also look for precious models since we want the girls to be like the ones from Victoria’s Secret but Costa Ricans,” stated Jimenez, who said that she is also training her body for the runway.

Among the Costa Rican designers who will exhibit their work are Marcel Desanti, Maria Lourdes Castro and Javier Madrigal. Although international designers will not be participating this year, Jimenez said that some foreign brands will be participating, but which ones cannot be revealed yet.

To purchase tickets to the event, you can call the Tiffi store number at 2588-2150.
