As dry weather approaches, the danger of fires again increases. With this in mind, the Aventura Nosara race planned for 8 a.m. on Saturday, November 16 will raise funds to support Nosara’s volunteer firefighters.
“We are hoping to raise close to $5,000 dollars, for upkeep and repairs to our current equipment, and have money ready to import a new fire truck loaded with equipment from a fire department in Colorado,” explained Ryan Bombard, the local fire chief.
There are two distance options. The 6-kilometer race will tour Guiones neighborhoods, trails and the beach to enjoy nature. The longer 13.2-kilometer course starts in Guiones but continues to the mouth of the Nosara River and to Pelada beach before returning to Guiones.
This is the second year the race is being held. Last year, 91 runners participated. This year, even more participants are expected from all over Costa Rica, including local and international visitors. Registration is 15,000 colones ($30).
