Esta publicación también está disponible en: Español

For the last 14 years the International Poetry Festival has been one of the most important events for this literary generation, and now Guanacastecos will be able to enjoy many of its activities.

The poetic conference will be held from October 10 to 19; the opening ceremony will take place at the Melico Salazar Theater. However, the cantons of Nicoya and Liberia will be the headquarters for the festival.

The canton of Nicoya will host the Mexican poet Roberto Arizmendi, who has published 43 books of poetry, testimonial literature and some educational material. His works include “The Cards of Time” (Las cartas deltiempo), “Your Skin in Memory” (Tupielen la memoria), and “Dreams” (Sueños).

In Liberia, attendees will be able to share with the Columbian poet Fernando Vargas, who is a lawyer specializing in human rights at the Universidad Externado de Columbia. He holds a masters in sociology from the Universidad Autonoma de Barcelona, in Spain.

The Costa Rican Alejandro Cordero will also be in attendance. Cordero recently published the book “Season of Hurracanes” (Temporada de Huracanes), which was presented at the International Book Fair that was held in San Jose in September.
