Promoting Reading Through Storytelling

Esta publicación también está disponible en: Español

Storytelling is as old as humanity itself and is also called the art of recounting events. The oral format stimulates the imagination and creativity that can be a teaching tool to enhance learning.

In an effort to provide spaces for fantasy and the satisfaction of traveling the world of knowledge through reading, many boys and girls from the schools in the Nicoya community were able to experience a special day with storytelling, face painting and workshops to strengthen dexterity and motor skills.

Librarians and teachers working  with the Ministry of Public Education celebrated the first Literary Festival of the Community Readers and Storytellers project, which took place on June 17 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 pm at the Casa de la Cultura where the municipal public library is located.

We hope to continue providing these spaces of pleasure and imagination to the whole community through narrative reading.
