Beginning in October, the David Kitson Library has opened a reading club for kids, so that, along with their friends, children will find reading more enjoyable.
The club started with more than 40 kids from the Serapio Lopez Fajardo and Del Mar Academy schools, meeting on the first and third Thursdays of every month. In addition to encouraging a love of books, the program helps their ability to recap and comprehend the stories read.
The children are not the only ones enjoying the library, as older adults also have their club, in which popular books are discussed. In addition, the elderly are receiving training from the Costa Rican Gerontology Association (AGECO – Asociacion Gerontologica Costarricense) and the Nosara Red Cross on subjects including healthy eating and the development of values.
