The Boa of Sonara Santanera Is Coming To Santa Cruz

Just hearing “It’s the boa!” at any wedding, christening or end-of-the-year partyis enough to get every single person out of their seats. This legendary song can be heard live during the month of August by the Original Sonara Santanera in Santa Cruz.

The Mexican group that has had its followers dancing for more than 60 years will perform on August 13th at 8 p.m. at the Santa Cruz Convention Center.

Diego Castro of BC Productions, the company that is organizing the event, explained that the purpose of the concert is to celebrate Mother’s Day.

Songs like “Perfume de Gardenias”, “Luces de Nueva York” (Lights of New York) and “Estoy pensando en ti” (I’m thinking of you) are some of the singles that can be enjoyed in the folkloric city.

General tickets are priced at ¢12,000 ($23) and preferred seating at ¢22,000 ($41.50). Preferred seating includes numbered seats as well as waiter service.

In addition to the Mexicans, Costa Ricans from the Maribel Marimba Orchestra will open the fiesta.

In Nicoya, tickets can be purchased at Rancho El Estribo or the Clinica de Ortopedia Guanacaste. In  Santa Cruz and Liberia, tickets will be sold in Hansa Sport or Florida stores.
