Early on Thursday, April 1st, Ricardo Valverde Sanchez, a 37-year-old resident of San Martin of Nicoya, was killed when the motorcycle he was riding collided with a car next to the sports field in San Martin.
According to Adolfo Saenz, press spokesperson for the Red Cross, when paramedics arrived at the site, Valverde was laying there dead.
“At about 2 a.m., we received an emergency call, so we went to the scene at the south west side of the San Martin plaza to deal with a collision between a motorcycle and a light vehicle. In the place, a male aged 37 was treated, who was declared dead,” said Saenz.
According to Saenz, Valverde was not wearing a safety helmet.
For his part, the vehicle driver, whose last name is Jaen, was coming from the capital with his family when the accident occurred.
Jaen had to be treated for minor injuries while the rest of his family did not suffer any injuries.
Agents from the Judicial Investigation Organization (OIJ) went to the scene to remove Valverde’s body and to provide the appropriate legal expertise.
