Family Vacations: Top 5 Beaches for Children

Esta publicación también está disponible en: Español

It’s that time of year when we pack up the family’s swimsuits and visit the natural wonders of the Guanacaste coast. Planning a vacation with children is not an easy task, especially during these holiday times when there are so many tourists.

According to Lt. Rodolfo Murillo, head of operations for the National Coastguard Service, the beaches along the northern Pacific coast (from La Cruz to Nandayure) are characterized by gentle waves during this time of year. “The beaches will be monitored daily by personnel trained to handle any contingency and provide security for swimmers,” said Murillo.

The Public Force will also be implementing a security plan so these areas will have police officers.

The Voice of Guanacaste selected five Guanacaste beaches that are ideal for traveling with little ones. Here they are:

Samara Beach: This beach is 5 kilometers (about 3 miles) long and is located 36 km from the city of Nicoya. It is very popular for swimming, learning to surf or kayaking. It is one of the safest beaches on the Pacific coast and has a Public Force police station right at the entrance. In addition, the gray sand beach and warm water is surrounded by palm trees and other trees, with plenty of space in the shade.
