The more transparent governments and municipalities are, the more citizens have confidence in the work they do. That is why the Foundation for the Americas, an affiliate of the Organization of American States, in collaboration with The Voice of Guanacaste, will hold a forum for the 11 new municipal authorities of Guanacaste on Tuesday, May 17.

The idea is to promote the principles of open government: to seek a dialogue on the human right of access to public information, to develop collaboration mechanisms between social organizations and government agencies and to implement new tools for citizen participation and accountability.

The gathering will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the La Pacifica Hotel in Cañas and will be led by Veronica Alvarez, an expert from the Organization of American States. Each municipality will have the opportunity to send two representatives. The invitation will also be extended to all local players like the development associations, committees, universities or forums who confirm that they will attend by emailing [email protected]
