Last week in the communities of Sámara and Nosara, the Costa Rican Tourism Institute (ICT – Instituto Costarricense de Turismo) presented the campaign, “¡¿Diay Jacinto?!” (“What the heck, Jacinto!?”), in which they try to raise awareness among children in primary and secondary schools and the general public regarding the proper management of solid waste.

The campaign consists of theatrical presentations in schools, a social media presence with messages related to the protection of the environment, and also their website (www.diayjacinto.com).

The campaign began its tour on Tuesday, September 17th in Sámara with the presentation in Sámara Pacific School, Mareas International Homeschool, El Torito School, and Garza School. On Wednesday the 18th, they were in Serapio López School and the School of Santa Marta, and on Thursday the 19th the presentations were in Bocas de Nosara High School, Santa Theresita School and the Academy of the Sea (Academia del Mar).

This initiative complements the efforts of the ICT to maintain the country’s brand image as a clean and environmentally friendly place. The goal is to bring the message of the campaign to most of the country.
