Wednesday, March 19 will be a day full of activities in Nicoya to encourage women, boost their self esteem and honor their entrepreneurial spirit, with artistic performances open to the public in the afternoon.

The activities are in honor of International Women’s Day, which was March 8, but the municipal Office of the Woman was busy with scholarships and needed a little more time to coordinate a good program of activities, according to Leslie Marchena Sequira, coordinator of the Office of the Woman.

The activities will be held in the new chapel capilla of the Catholic Church. In the morning the activities especially for women involved in fairs for business women, by invitation, will begin at 9 a.m. with a breakfast and recognition, followed by a tai chi workshop and dynamic activities which Marchena said are directed toward emotional aspects and will subtly work on the women’s self esteem. Also information will be given regarding small and medium size businesses or micro businesses.

At about 4 p.m., the public can enjoy several artistic expressions by local Nicoyan groups in recognition of business women. La Trufula, an independent group of professionals in the arts, will present theatrical poetry. Also a young man from Nueva Acropolis, an association of youths, will sing.

The activities have been designed by five social work students from the Free University of Costa Rica (Universidad Libre de Costa Rica). The students have been doing an internship practica with the municipality from January to April. Wednesday, March 19 will be a day full of activities in Nicoya to encourage women, boost their self esteem and honor their entrepreneurial spirit, with artistic performances open to the public in the afternoon.
